The Doorway

The sculpture was made for the annual run at the Stienitzsee near Berlin. It was placed on the running path of the race. The Doorway was a simple wooden construction with a posted image of the same surroundings it was placed in. The image was slightly blurred as images in advertisements often are in order to give an illusion of speed. The construction resembled the traditional theatre backdrops thus putting the runners (and afterwards people taking a walk) "on stage", or into a performative situation.
